Rule of Thirds. What is it about?
When you look through your viewfinder, imagine a grid over the view from your lens. (I guess like a tic tac toe grid if that helps?) The picture is divided into nine equal parts right? Where these lines intersect are the best points to focus your subject in. Not focusing your subject in the center of the frame, but rather on the points where the lines intersect, creates interest to your photograph. It tends to draw the eye to the subject, which is usually the goal in especially portrait photography, but also makes an impact on other types of photography like nature, and macro!
